Wednesday, Okay, so it is 14 degrees in Norman Town and I am freezing! Had to go outside in this for a few minutes and that was TOO long. Woke up this morning and checked the West window to see how cold it was . . . and there was a thick sheet of ICE covering the pane. Yeah, that's cold.
It's so cold I didn't even venture out to the poetry reading on Monday night at the Second Wind coffee shop. I did finally, two weeks ago, make it there to read and . . . it was a bit intimidating. Nothing but kids. Hell, the professor who runs the gig had to be no more than late 20s. But I did read and my legs shook the whole time! I couldn't believe it! I never shake on stage. They applauded. But not as big of a response as I wanted. Ego was hurt, and even though I said I didn't go this last time because of the weather . . . well . . . that's only partially true. But I shall return and do the best I can.

Took the health risk and went out today in 18 degree weather. Don't worry. I bundled up. I didn't breakout the heavy duty, Las Vegas winter gear, but I did "bundle up" and it wasn't half
bad. Rather invigorating. Ha! You know it's really been cold when you say, "18 degrees? That ain't so bad."
I made it down to the closest convenience store without incident. I'm really skittish about falling ever since hitting a patch of hidden ice and breaking my arm a few years back when I was teaching in Las Vegas, NM. I was laying there, and seriously hurt, thinking to myself, "FUCK! I've actually fallen . . . and I can't get up!" I laugh now, but it was really scary at the time. So, I watch the ice when I walk around in the snow . . . and I walk flatfooted for a better grip. Damn, the things you have to worry about when you get old.
